In Australia, one person is diagnosed with dementia every six minutes. With more than 342,800 Australians living with dementia, this disease is progressive, debilitating and relentless.
Research has shown the best place for a person with memory loss is in familiar surroundings. We are most comfortable when we are at home. We feel safe, secure and relaxed. This feeling is even more powerful for someone with dementia.
Central to our care philosophy is the provision of specialist dementia care to support people living with dementia to continue to live safely and independently in the familiar surroundings of their own home.
Olive Tree Home Care, we pioneered memory care training. In collaboration with Alzheimer’s Australia (Qld), we developed Australia’s first best practice training program for professional, in-home caregivers.
Our Specialist Dementia Training Program equips our CAREGivers to deliver distinctive memory care based on research and experience. Rather than focusing on the diagnosis and symptoms of the disease, our specialist dementia care focusses on maximising abilities, independence and quality of life, restoring the dignity of the person living with dementia.
